Tallis Barker Tallis Barker has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships. He has presented his original works in concerts on both sides of the Atlantic. The composer states, "Largely inspired by the New England coastline, Watercolors strives to represent water in its various natural aspects. Whether flowing or still, water does not express itself in hard angles or sharp textures. Musically this is reflected by a diatonic palette: sounds colored almost exclusively by the white keys alone. These works involve gradual modal shifts, with the music gravitating around different white notes at different points in each piece. Given the relatively free, and at times intentionally open-ended notational style, clearly each performer must rely more on his own fantasy in bringing the music to life." These remarkably beautiful fluid pieces are dedicated to Seymour Bernstein, Tallis' teacher and friend.Highly recommended.
