These three etudes are based on the jazz vocal technique of scat singing. Excellently crafted with chord changes included, these character pieces are fun to play and to learn about improvisation. Each piece has an accompanying worksheet where Jon explains the compositional principle, and the student has the opportunity to work out some of the changes. These would make an interesting change of pace on a college recital.
