Revoltillo (literal translation-scrambled eggs) is a traditional Afro-Cuban piece, representative of the 1940's style of Latin Dance Music made popular by musicians such as Tito Puente. Rooted in "son clave" this music's emphasis is on rhythm, relying heavily on percussion. This piece worked its way into the Meridian Arts Ensemble's repertoire after band members played in a traditional style Latin band based in East Harlem, New York.
