These four wonderful studies not only depict the antics of the various insects, but also provide a good pedagogical study. The Black Fly has no barlines and uses hand claps and slaps. The Dying Moth uses multiple meters to depict the intensity of the death of a moth. The Humbug is a nonsense, improvisatory piece. The Praying Mantis is a lovely chorale. Seymour has excellent preface notes for each piece.
