This virtuostic sounding tonal piece keeps each player busy. It has great audience appeal. The fanfare is in 6/8 and switches to 2/8 and 3/8 using forceful rhythms. The Toccata is in cut time and has long legato lines marked flowing with energy. Towards the end, there is an overlapping of melodic parts which gives a very interesting effect. It is scored for 2 C trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba. Highly recommended.
