Don Stratton
A unique and entertaining 12-tone suite for trumpet (in C), horn and trombone. The trip was written for Don's wife Jan, while they were vacationing on Echo Lake on Mt. Desert Island in Maine. The sections are named after various places in Maine, except Pebble, Silk, and Al. E. Cat, the feline controller of Don's house. Pushaw was a summer haven for Don since 1930. "Stratton's 'August '70 Jan Trio' is a fine work which should find its way into every institution of higher learning...look for this piece to show up on many brass and modern music programs in the future."
